April 2018.

The excellent Netflix documentary Wild Wild West has been keeping me busy. Six brilliantly edited hours on one of the last centuries' weirder cults.

I'll happily bang on about the brilliance of The Streets to anyone who'll listen. Their cult has grown in recent years (as the clamour for tickets for their comeback shows illustrated) but they are strangely underrated. Mike Skinner's way with lyrics, the way he talks to those who understand his culture and those that don't, the hymnal quality of the music. It's all there. Here's a playlist for anyone yet to be convinced. Genius. And the first comeback show in Birmingham was perfect! https://open.spotify.com/user/charliegladstone/playlist/2ZOM5bH7Rw5HZxmIiKpZho

Andrea Gursky at The Hayward was something I had been looking forward to and it was good, I thought, but it left me strangely cold. I had a slight sense of Emperor's new clothes.

Some good things I have been buying.

American felt pennants from Oxford Pennant https://oxfordpennant.com/

The Boxer Live (The National) from Rough Trade.

Coloured socks from Mes Chaussettes Rouge https://oxfordpennant.com/
