November 2018.
I spent 26 hours in the car last week; 2000 plus miles. Great podcast time. I think Marc Maron is -by some stretch- the best pop culture interviewer out there. His talk with Roger Daltrey was magic; and so were those with Eric Idle, John Cleese and Kurt Vile. Adam Buxton is back, which is good. And I have nearly finished Series 3 of Revisionist History. It is, perhaps, not as good as the first, but it is so well scripted and so subtle that just listening to Malcolm Gladwell is rewarding. Series 3 of Serial is great too, of course; it starts gently and builds. And having read, I think, all of his books I am listening to David Sedaris via audiobook; his podcast with Adam Buxton was great, it contained the essence of Sedaris. If the news is your thing then Talking Politics is good; it’s sponsored by the London Review of Books.
Talking of books, I have finished Sally Rooney’s latest book and gone back to Conversations with Friends. Both are exceptional even if you discount the fact she’s only 27 or something.
