September 2018.
On Netflix, the Jinx. It’s another murder mystery documentary and although -like them all- it may be a little over long, the ending is just perfect. At last I have watched the first series of Narcos which I love. It makes me wonder if we were sensible to visit Colombia in the early 1990s. But it was one of the best trips ever, so all’s well that ends well.
Music, well Prince’s Piano and a Microphone 1983 is wonderful, though probably only for fans. And the companion single Nothing Compares 2 U is probably the best version of it ever recorded, even though you get the impression he just tossed it out one evening. Spiritualised’s new album will offer plenty to love if you liked Ladies and Gentlemen…. which I did.
Meg Wolitzer’s book The Interestings was one of my favourites of the last few years and I am enjoying her new one, The Female Persuasion. I also absolutely loved Dan Keiran’s The Surfboard, a short, lyrical, explorative account of building a surfboard in a week.
But mainly this month has been about The Good Life Experience. It was our best et and exhausts me more with each passing year. Middle age, eh?
